Seeing that www.webmasterstimulus.org has climbed quite quickly in the serps had me questioning if Google can recognize a variation of the word even if it was completely backwards?

Maybe Google recognized the association between the words because of the sites that the words are mentioned on? Most of the sites with “sulumits retsambew” also have “webmaster stimulus” in them, such as this blog discussing the SEO contest.  To see what might come up on a search I tried “snru noitamerc” which is “cremation urns” backwards. I used quotes after getting what looked like another language and one site came up. That site was elgoog – which is Google spelled backwards! That test failed with flying bruises, since the whole page was reversed along with the title, etc…

By adding these words within the same content, will the big G start to put the two together? When you search for “retsambew” will Google recommend “webmaster”? I am betting it will soon enough. Will semantic search add those variations to the results? Don’t get me started on the semantic search business now………

This new player added “no” to the keywords to create a keyword domain. Google gives so much weight to keyword rich domain name s.

Second full day and here are the first page results on google:

As you can see there are quite the variety of sites ranking in the top 10, but still heavy weight has been given to the domain name followed by incoming links, from our research of the results.  There were about 90 results around the time of this search, so we expect a lot more in the next week as those who are attempting to rank using old methods or non-seo savy type s of pages.

Web 2.0 sites took a lead in the beginning, but they seem to drop considerably as those pages that have more SEO options implemented gain rank. With all the linking going on right now we would expect these results to change quite a bit in the next week.

It hasn’t even been one full day and Google shows 69 results for Sulumits Retsambew. It cracks me up to see the junk sites that are involved. They may rank, but those sites are the ones you hate getting on. Filled with blinking banners and pop-ups (ha ha – blocked!) I think of the amateur builders from the 90’s.

Those attempting to rank for “sulumits retsambew” without using popular social media sites are not as highly listed as those who are. Mike Dammann used digg to get a head start, but was taken over by the .org site showing that Google still gives more weight to the domain name having the keywords in it. Mike’s site Firetown is showing #9 right now for this Sulumits Retsambew page.

 The .net owner thought he could get creative and claim that it is his name on a comment sent to this blog. I am guessing he wanted a link and try to stir up link bait by controversy. It might have worked if he applied for a name change…

What is sulumits retsambew?

It is for an SEO contest brought on by www.NetBuilders.org (a new, but good webmaster forum.) The two made up words are actually just “webmaster stimulus” spelled backwards.  The rules for this SEO contest can be found here sulumits retsambew 

If you want to test out your skills in SEO head on over to NetBuilders.org and read more about it and get your website or pages ready to compete. The prizes are decent and the contest ends August 15th.

As you can see the keywords are not recognized English words so the competition will be amongst those competing. I would recommend anyone in SEO to at least experiment with this competition. Try a page only with outbound related links, try a site with just the title tags and description with one inbound link with the keywords as the anchor text. Maybe just make a page and get only directory links pointing to it to see the value those links may have. So even if you are not “competing” use this for a learning activity.

Maybe to keep track of the players I will post the sites on this blog that are competing and the top 3 of the week. See what works fast and what works long term.
